4.5.5. Replacement of cooling liquid

According to the recommendation of manufacturer cooling liquid should be replaced through 75 thousand km of a run or once in 5 years (depending on what will come earlier). If cooling liquid changed color on reddish, immediately replace it as it demonstrates that the inhibiting additives are already produced and liquid became aggressive in relation to cooling system details. The cooling system of the engine contains 7,84 l of liquid.

Note
If in the cooling system cooling liquid like antifreeze is filled in, it should be replaced through each 40 thousand km of a run or 2 years of operation.
It will be required to you: a key "on 13", the screw-driver with a crosswise edge, cooling liquid, a pure rag.

Preventions
Apply the cooling liquids recommended by manufacturer (see the appendix 2).
Replace cooling liquid only on the cold engine.
Cooling liquid is toxic therefore be careful during the work with it.
At launch of the engine the stopper of a broad tank has to be closed. Wrap a stopper densely. At the working engine the cooling system is under pressure therefore from under poorly wrapped up stopper cooling liquid can begin to flow.

1. Install the car on an osmotrovy ditch or the elevator.
2. Turn off a stopper of a broad tank. Remove an engine mudguard (see. "Removal and installation of a mudguard of the engine").

Note
It is optional to remove protection of a case of the engine, but in this case it is necessary to take measures against potek of cooling liquid on the platform under the car as it, getting from drain openings on protection, will be strongly sprayed.

3. Establish capacity under the engine and turn out a stopper of a drain opening on the block of cylinders. After discharge of cooling liquid wipe its traces from the block of cylinders.
4. Establish capacity under a radiator, turn out a stopper of a drain opening on a radiator …
5. … also wait when cooling liquid completely merges from system.

Prevention
Antifreeze is fatally poisonous for all live. Therefore not to pollute the environment, merge it from the block of cylinders and a radiator through a funnel (for example, made of a plastic bottle).

Note
The stopper of a drain opening of a radiator is condensed with a rubber ring, do not lose it. Replace the torn or hardened ring.

6. Screw traffic jams in the block of cylinders and a radiator.
7. Weaken an inhaling of a collar and disconnect a hose of discharge of cooling liquid from the union of heating of throttle knot. It is necessary in order that in process of filling of the cooling system of the engine of it went out air. If not to make it, because of formation of air traffic jams cooling liquid will fill system not completely.
8. Fill the engine cooling system, filling in cooling liquid in a broad tank until it does not begin to follow from the hose disconnected from throttle knot. At this moment establish a hose into place and tighten a collar of its fastening.
9. Continue to fill in liquid until its level is not established on a tag of "MAX" applied on a wall of a broad tank (after launch of the engine cooling liquid will force out the remains of air and level in a tank will a little go down). Wrap a stopper of a broad tank.

Prevention
Wrap a stopper of a broad tank densely. At the working engine the broad tank is under pressure therefore from under poorly wrapped up stopper cooling liquid can begin to flow.

10. Establish an engine mudguard.
11. Launch the engine and let's it get warm up to the working temperature (before turning on of the fan). After that stop the engine, check the level of cooling liquid (see. "Check of level and dolivka of cooling liquid").

Preventions
Do not fill in liquid in a broad tank above a tag of "MAX" as at warming up of the engine its level in a tank strongly increases.
During the operation of the engine you watch temperature of cooling liquid according to the index. If the arrow moved to a red zone, and the fan did not turn on, include a heater and check what air goes through it. If through a heater there is a warmed-up air, most likely, the fan is faulty if it cold — means, in the cooling system of the engine the air stopper was formed. After that kill the engine. To remove an air stopper, let's the engine cool down and turn off a stopper of a broad tank (be careful: if the engine cooled down not completely, cooling liquid can be splashed out from a tank). Launch the engine, let's it work 3–5 min. and close a tank stopper

Useful tips
For the best filling of system without air traffic jams periodically to a prozhimayta radiator hoses a hand.
In several days of operation of the car after replacement of cooling liquid check its level. If necessary add cooling liquid.
If through very short time fresh liquid changed color on brown, so you filled in a fake to which manufacturers "forgot" to add corrosion inhibitors. Besides, one of signs of a fake is sharp full decolouration of liquid. Dye of cooling liquid of high quality is very resistant and over time only darkens. The liquid tinted by linen blue becomes colourless. Such "antifreeze" needs to be replaced quicker.
