6.2.9. Selection of an adjusting ring of bearings of differential

The preliminary tightness of bearings of differential has to make 0,15–0,35 mm. The tightness is provided with selection of thickness of an adjusting ring from delivered in spare parts. The adjusting ring is established in a transmission case nest under an external ring of the bearing of differential. The scheme of selection of thickness of an adjusting ring of bearings of differential is shown in fig. 6.10.
1. Vypressuyte an external ring of the bearing of differential from a transmission case if it it was not made earlier (see. "Repair of differential").
2. Insert an adjusting ring 1,25 mm thick into a nest in a transmission case under the bearing of differential and press an external ring of the bearing of differential in a transmission case nest by means of a suitable mandrel. Press a bearing ring in a coupling case if it was vypressovano.
3. Establish differential in a transmission case.
4. Establish a case of coupling on a transmission case and screw three bolts of fastening of cases equidistant from each other the corresponding moment. Turn on several turns differential for self-installation of bearings.
5. Establish a basic plate of the corresponding diameter on a differential flange end face from a coupling case.
6. Install the indicator on a rack. A leg of the indicator place on a basic plate with a preliminary tightness 1 mm.
7. Having made effort from below, move differential up to an emphasis. At the same time it is impossible to turn differential around an axis.
8. Measure axial movement of differential, having taken readings of the indicator. Calculate the required thickness of an adjusting ring of bearings of differential by a formula
T = S + C + Y, where
T — the required thickness of an adjusting ring, mm;
S — the measured axial movement of differential, mm;
With — a preliminary tightness of bearings of differential, equal 0,25 mm;
Y — thickness of an adjusting ring, equal 1,25 mm.
Pick up from delivered in the spare part an adjusting ring of the calculated thickness (T±0,1) of mm.

Example of calculation of thickness of an adjusting ring.
The axial gap of S at the indication of the indicator is equal to 0,95 mm. We substitute in a formula this value, value of a pretightness of bearings (C = 0,25 mm) and thickness of an adjusting ring (Y = 1,25 mm). We receive T = 0,95 + 0,25 + 1,25 = 2,45 (mm).
The received thickness of T of an adjusting ring has to be (2,45±0,1) mm.
Establish the picked-up adjusting ring in a nest of a case of the transmission and press an external ring of the bearing of differential.
