Drives of forward wheels consist of external 1 (fig. 6.12) and internal 3 hinges of equal angular speeds (CV JOINTS), connected by shaft 2. The external hinge provides a possibility only of angular movements of the connected shaft. The internal hinge in addition to angular provides also axial shifts of shaft at turn of forward wheels and work of a suspension bracket. The shaft of the drive of the left wheel is executed from a bar, and right — from a pipe. Besides, shaft of the drive differ with length: right is longer than left.

The external hinge consists of the case 1 (fig. 6.13), a separator 6, an internal holder of 3 and six balls. In the case of the hinge and in a holder flutes for placement of balls are executed. Flutes in the longitudinal plane are executed on radius that provides an angle of rotation of the external hinge to 42 °. The Shlitsevy tip of the case of the hinge is established in a nave of a forward wheel and fastens to it a nut.
The holder 3 hinges is established on vents of a shaft 10 between a persistent ring 7 and a lock ring 2.
The internal hinge differs from external in the fact that paths of the case and a holder are executed direct, but not radial that allows details of the hinge to move in the longitudinal direction. It is necessary for compensation of the movements caused by fluctuations of a forward suspension bracket and the power unit.
Install balls of one sorting group in external and internal hinges, if necessary all six balls of the hinge are replaced; balls have to be one sorting group. At assembly of the internal hinge the selective method is used. Replacement of any one detail is inadmissible — the internal hinge needs to be replaced assembled.
Details of hinges grease with SHRUS-4 lubricant which is put in cases of hinges at assembly. Sealing of hinges is provided with the protective covers fixed by collars.

Good advice
Hinges of drives are very durable, their settlement resource is almost equal to a car resource. However in operation they are changed or repaired quite often. Such work expensive and labor-consuming. Seriously to save, regularly check a condition of protective covers of hinges and immediately replace them at the slightest damages. If water or dust gets to the hinge through the damaged cover, it will fail through several hundreds of kilometers of a run. The tight hinge wears out extremely slowly.
