9.7.1. Replacement of brake shoes of the brake mechanism of a forward wheel

Minimum admissible thickness of frictional overlays of brake shoes of 1,5 mm.
Blocks should be replaced in the following cases:
– thickness of frictional overlays of less admissible value;
– the surface of slips is greasy;
– the frictional slip is unsteadily connected to the basis;
– slips have deep furrows and chips.
It will be required to you: keys "on 13", "on 17", the screw-driver with a flat edge, a chisel, the hammer.
1. Disconnect a wire from the minus plug of the rechargeable battery.
2. Slow down the car the parking brake and establish persistent whetstones under back wheels.
3. Remove a forward wheel, clear the brake mechanism of dirt and take out from an arm a rubber sealant together with a hose.
4. If the level of brake fluid is in a tank of the main brake cylinder on a tag of "MAX" or approaches her, pump out a part of liquid from a tank. Otherwise it will pour down too much at installation of new blocks.
5. Unbend the screw-driver or beat off a chisel a corner of a lock washer of the lower bolt.
6. A key "on 13" turn off the lower bolt of fastening of the case of a bracket, holding with a key "on 17" the directing finger for a hexagon.
7. Deploy the bracket case around an axis of the top directing finger up and remove brake shoes.

The surface of frictional slips should not be greasy, on it there should not be deep рисок also chips. The slip has to be strongly connected to the block basis.

8. Check thickness and a condition of frictional overlays of brake shoes.
9. Clear of dirt and a rust of a detail of a brake, especially seats of brake shoes. Do it carefully not to damage a protective cover of the cylinder.

Good advice
At each replacement of brake shoes without fail check a condition of protective rubber covers of the directing finger and movement of a support concerning a guide of brake shoes. If movement is complicated, grease with jellied lubricant the directing support fingers. For this purpose take the directing finger …
… grease it with UNIOL-1 lubricant and put lubricant in an internal cavity of a cover. Establish a finger in a guide of blocks as it should be, the return to removal. If there were rubber aging signs, replace protective covers of the directing fingers.

10. At installation of new blocks press the piston into the cylinder. For this purpose establish worn-out brake shoes into place and lower the bracket case. Pressing the screw-driver or an assembly shovel on an external block and leaning on a support, accurately press the piston into the cylinder.
11. Establish new brake shoes. Press springs have to be established parallel to the upper edge of blocks (the support of the brake mechanism is for descriptive reasons removed).
12. Turn the bracket case down and screw the lower bolt of fastening, holding with a key the directing finger for a hexagon.
13. Bend a short mustache of a lock washer. Establish a wheel and lower the car on the earth then press several times a brake pedal for installation of the piston into position. Check the level of brake fluid in a tank and if necessary bring it to norm.

Good advice
Having replaced worn-out brake shoes new, you do not hurry to come out to brisk highways at once. It is not excluded that at the first intensive braking you will be unpleasantly struck with low efficiency of brakes though blocks put company. Brake disks wear out too, and new blocks concern only them edges, practically without braking. Choose the quiet small street or journey without cars and several times smoothly slow down that blocks got used and began to adjoin all surface. At the same time estimate also efficiency of brakes. Try not to brake sharply at least the first hundred kilometers. At strong heating of not earned extra blocks the top layer of their slips burns slightly, and brakes long will not be most effective.
